"Dolores Claiborne"
What's past is prologue to the tale of "DOLORES CLAIBORNE." The story cuts back and forth over a twenty year period, unfolding in a juxtaposition of then and now, winter and summer, darkness and light.
The isolation of Little Tall Island is very much part of the story. Stephen King set his fictional location off the coast of Maine and depicted it as a summer place. Taylor Hackford took it one step further, to Nova Scotia, a land of austere natural beauty rarely captured on film. Director Taylor Hackford, production designer Bruno Rubeo and director of photography Gabriel Beristain ("Gaby") had been on distant locations together on previous projects, and they all looked forward to another chance to discover territory previously unexposed to the motion picture camera.
