|
|
When he accepted the role of Tom Cruise's soft-spoken inmate brother in "The Firm," David Strathairn made an impression on the largest film audience of his career. His performance led to starring roles opposite Meryl Streep in "The River Wild" and Jessica Lange in the upcoming "Losing Isaiah," which he completed just prior to joining Kathy Bates and Jennifer Jason Leigh in "DOLORES CLAIBORNE."
David Strathairn has appeared in six films by John Sayles: "Passion Fish," "City of Hope," "Eight Men Out," "Matewan," "The Brother from Another Planet" and "Return of the Secaucus Seven," in which he made his motion picture debut.
His additional film credits include "A Dangerous Woman," "Lost in Yonkers," "Sneakers," "Bob Roberts," "A League of Their Own," "Memphis Belle," "Dominick and Eugene," "At Close Range" and "Silkwood."
On stage, the San Francisco-born actor has appeared on Broadway in "Einstein and the Polar Bear," off-Broadway in "The Birthday Party," "A Lie of the Mind" and "Salonika," and in regional productions of "The Seagull," "I'm Not Rappaport" and "Danton's Death."
Strathairn's telefilm appearances include "O, Pioneers!," "Without Warning: The James Brady Story," "Judgment," "Heat Wave" and "Day One." He had a recurring role in "The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd" as Moses Goodman, Molly's bookstore boss and occasional lover.
