Eric Bogosian is the author of two plays, "Talk Radio" and "subUrbia", as well as three Obie award winning solos: "Drinking In America", "Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll" and "Pounding Nails in the Floor with My Forehead". He is best known for starring as the misanthropic radio "shock-jock", Barry Champlain in Oliver Stone's film version of his own Talk Radio. (Bogosian received the Berlin Film Festival's "Silver Bear" for his work on the film.) Bogosian's solos, plays and the novella Notes from Underground have been published both here and abroad.
He stars occassionally on film and television, notably as Lt. Greenwald in Robert Altman's Caine Mutiny Court Martial and as the evil Travis Dane in last summer's Under Siege 2, opposite Steven Seagal. His solo, Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll, was filmed by John McNaughton and is available on video.
Bogosian's plays and solos have been staged around the world, including a long-running version of "Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll" in Buenos Aires and a tour of "Pounding Nails in the Floor with My Forehead" in Italy. "subUrbia", which enjoyed a sold-out run at Lincoln Center in 1994, has been performed around the U.S. and is currently being prepared for its Berlin debut.
Bogosian is currently working on a new play, "Griller" and touring his new solo "Wake Up and Smell the Coffee". Bogosian lives in New York City with his wife and collaborator, Jo Bonney, and their two children.
